September's sunny conditions almost made us forget the cool summer and produced superb white grapes that we harvested mid-September. Fermentation is evolving favourably.
Flowering occurred in May and June promising an early harvesting, but the lack of sunshine throughout the summer decided otherwise and maturity was delayed. In the end, the sunny conditions in September saved the day and produced beautiful grapes. Without going so far as promising this to be the vintage of the century, the early red Merlots harvested during this last week of September nevertheless predict a fine vintage. The Cabernets francs and Sauvignons will be harvested over the next two weeks. |
